Time Machine

For this action project my class mates and I had to recreate a memory and state how it defines who you are. The memory I chose was graduating the 8th grade, I chose this memory because it shows how much of an accomplishment I have made from 8th grade to GCE. The part I enjoyed during this action project was being able to pick any memory we wanted and telling it to people, but then I also disliked having to 'show people the senses (smell, touch, sight). Down below is the script of my recording, and a picture that resembles my topic.

It was the the day I dreaded the most, yet I was excited. The day I graduated Walt Disney. I was dreadful because, it was the day I was finally graduating the 8th grade, now some people would think its just the 8th grade but I thought it was a big deal because I’ve been going to Disney since I was in kindergarden, and I thought I would never see the day I graduated, it made me feel like I was evolving into a whole nother person. This memory shaped who I am today because it makes me realize how much of an accomplishment I’ve made from graduating 8th grade to going to GCE. It was dreadful because all the friends I made through the eight years there would be going there different ways. I was also excited because I would be going somewhere different, a place that I wasn't accustomed to, I guess you could say it was biitersweet.

When I arrived to school I went to the third floor where my class was,I recall seeing the boys wearing their vests and dress pants, and the girls wearing their beautiful dresses. Most of the girls were already crying, some were remembering old times while others were talking about what they already planned to do in the summer. When we finally got situated we had to get ready in the costume room, which was mess! The graduation gowns all got rearranged because the janitor cleaned the room the night before, therefore different classes had other classes gowns, and people didn't know how to apply there ribbons, or wear their hats. It looked like a scene from a TV show. I recall girls running back and forth trying to find they're gowns, applying tons of perfume that smelled like an old lady, and yes more crying! Once the ceremony started we walked out, and I saw my mom in the crowd trying to get my attention to take a picture, she kept whispering/ yelling my name to get my attention but, I couldn't stop the line so I just quickly smiled at her. It made me at ease to see her because it would have been awkward not knowing where to go after the ceremony.

Finally arriving to my seat, the principal began to speak about the school year and what we accomplished.I really didn't pay attention, I just stared off into the audience feeling eager to already graduate. After she finished talking my classmates and I sang The pledge of Allegiance, come sail away, and half of the star spangled banner . The principal then announced a keynote speaker which was, Toni Preckwinkle the cook county board president, she talked a little about herself , and how she became the board president. She also talked to us about making right decisions in school and in life.

Next it was time for our principal to hand us our diplomas, the music teacher played a song called Hall of fame , I was nervous because I didn’t want to fall in the wedges I was wearing, when the principal said my name I heard my mom, dad, and aunt cheering in the background it made me smile because I knew the would want to take a picture. Walking back to my seat I was relieved I didn’t fall. Finally came the time when we got to turn our tassels, the teachers motioned for us to rise and all I saw were cameras flashing from left to right, then the principal yells ‘turn your tassels from right to left, I now present to you class of 2013’! The audience erupted in cheers, I was proud to say I graduated! This is why I chose this I chose this memory.
